DHCD Mitigating Air Quality RFP Grantees

First announced at the 2024 inaugural Healthy Desert, Healthy You Environmental Health Summit, the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation’s “Mitigating Air Quality” Request for Proposals (RFP) allocated up to $1 million to address concerns about air quality in the Coachella Valley. Given the various sources of air pollution — from vehicle emissions to desert dust to increased particulate matter from the Salton Sea — the District opened the RFP application to nonprofits serving the Coachella Valley.

After applying, five local non-profits and organizations received grant funding spanning two years to support their missions in improving and mitigating air quality impacts.

  • Increase and enhance awareness and foster connections to mitigate the impact of air quality on health conditions and outcomes.
  • Evaluate household environments to identify methods for improving indoor air quality.
  • Increase access to health services to reduce the impact of poor air quality on health.
