Dr. Juan D. De Lara is the inaugural director of the Latinx and Latin American Studies Center and an associate professor of American studies and ethnicity at the University of Southern California. Dr. De Lara received his Ph.D. in geography from the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of Inland Shift: Race, Space, and Capital in Southern California (University of California Press, 2018). He was born and raised in Coachella. Dr. De Lara is currently working on a book about the Coachella Valley.
