Kristi Hall is an Air Toxics Specialist with the California Air Resources Board. Originally from Oakland, CA, Ms. Hall holds a Master’s in Public Health with a focus in Epidemiology and a Bachelor’s in Biology with a focus in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology, both from the University of Hawaii. Ms. Hall is a researcher and has worked in both the nonprofit and government sectors on a range of issues related to human health and the environment. A notable accomplishment was her research on the bioethics of community exposure to airborne pesticides in Hawaii. After a presentation to an international audience, the results were used along with community testimony to enact a moratorium on this pesticide use in the concerned area. Ms. Hall’s background also includes air emissions monitoring and enforcement, public education and outreach, and surveillance epidemiology. She continues to commit her time and efforts to finding strategies that help reduce health effects from air pollution. A central theme in Ms. Hall’s career is her continued drive to have a positive impact on environmental health and justice in overburdened communities.
