Meteorologist @ KESQ News Channel 3
Katie Boer is the weekday evening meteorologist for News Channel 3 in Palm Springs and an Emmy Award-winning journalist with over a decade of on-air experience in major markets across the West Coast. A certified meteorologist, public speaker, and executive communication coach, Katie is known for her engaging on-camera presence and passion for impactful storytelling. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Biola University in Southern California and completed Mississippi State University’s rigorous three-year Broadcast Meteorology Certification program. Fun fact: she also received her associate’s degree the day before graduating high school.
Beyond the studio, Katie is a two-time Half Ironman finisher who has completed three full marathons and more than two dozen half marathons. A thrill-seeker at heart, she’s flown 9Gs in an F-16 with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, bungee jumped, skydived, and rappelled down buildings—all in the name of adventure. She’s even twice guest-played with the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters. A passionate aviation enthusiast, Katie hopes to earn her private pilot’s license and loves how her meteorology background enhances her understanding of the skies from both the ground and the cockpit.
She is also a dedicated dementia advocate who has raised thousands of dollars to support caregivers and awareness efforts through personal storytelling and community outreach. When she’s not chasing storms or pushing physical limits, Katie enjoys spending time with her ten-year-old golden retriever, Murphy, along with writing, creating, and connecting with her community. She recently finished writing her first children’s book to help young readers better understand memory loss and brain health.
