Katie Boer is the Emmy Award-winning journalist and evening meteorologist at KESQ News Channel 3 in Palm Springs with more than a decade of experience helping audiences understand complex topics through engaging, relatable storytelling. Recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Associated Press, her reporting has appeared on CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX and CNN. Beyond the newsroom, Katie is a passionate dementia advocate and caregiver. After documenting her mother’s journey with Lewy body dementia through their #DementiaDiaries project—which raised more than $10,000 and reached thousands of caregivers around the world—she is now caring for her father as he lives with Alzheimer’s disease. Her firsthand experience navigating the healthcare system has given her a deep understanding of the emotional, logistical and financial challenges families often face throughout the caregiving journey. Katie earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Biola University and completed her Broadcast Meteorology Certification through Mississippi State University. Whether she’s explaining the science behind extreme weather or moderating conversations about health and caregiving, Katie believes the best storytelling doesn’t just inform—it empowers people to better understand the world around them.
