Peter Daut is a six-time Emmy-Award-winning journalist who currently solo anchors the 4 and 6:30 PM newscasts for KESQ News Channel 3.

Almost immediately after he joined the station in 2020, Daut launched the interactive program “Coronavirus: Questions Answered,” which earned him an Emmy Award for Best Evening Newscast. He continues to conduct in-depth interviews with newsmakers on the big stories of the day.

As a member of the station’s I-Team, he has investigated numerous issues affecting the Coachella Valley, including homelessness, border security, and illegal drugs. In addition, he frequently contributes in-depth reports on a wide range of topics. He received an Edward R. Murrow Award in 2023 for his investigative story on arsenic in the drinking water of Coachella Valley migrant communities. He received the 2022 California Golden Quill Award for outstanding education reporting.

Earlier in his career, he anchored and reported at KCBS/KCAL-TV in Los Angeles. Daut served as the lead reporter on several major stories, including the Pulse nightclub shooting massacre in Orlando, FL. He traveled to New York City to cover the 2016 presidential election, Denver, Colorado, to investigate the legalization of recreational marijuana, and Carson City, Nevada, for the parole hearing of O.J. Simpson.

He also worked at stations in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Dallas, Texas.
